ABOUT

Hi I’m Suzie

Using natural materials such as plaster, driftwood and handmade clay, I bring to life spirited, often imaginary creatures and other organic forms.

I’m intrigued by our deep connections to animals and places. I spent a lot of my childhood in my own rich, inner world teeming with invented animal companions. In my work I often use animals as a metaphor for our universal or personal stories. The more dreamlike creatures reflect the gap between what we see and what we feel. I work in a mainly intuitive way, allowing the shapes to tell me how they want to be and the creature’s character mainly reveals itself to me during the process.

Originally from England, I graduated with BA (Hons) in Sculpture from Norwich School of Art in 2004.

I live and work in the hills near Carcassonne, France. I also run workshops and help other artists and creatives one-to-one with developing their ideas and practice.
